부유한 미국 가정에 태어난 그녀는 생의 반을 프랑스 등 유럽에 살면서
쿠르베, 마네, 드가 등 당대 화가들과 교류하며 재정적 지원도 하여
인상주의의 미국 내 유입에 많은 노력을 했었군요.
평생 독신으로 지냈던 그녀가 어머니와 아이를 테마로 많은 작품을 남긴 것이
다소 아이러닉 하지만, 강렬한 텃치와 색채에 감동하게 됩니다.
